Title: New and confused
Post by: celestina on May 01, 2016, 01:29:38 PM
On Feb 12th my life changed. My daughter attempted suicide. Since we have been through 3 acute, 1php and now residential. She is 15. They wont diagnose her offically, but the therapist says she is textbook BPD. I have entered the anger phase and I have no idea what to do.

Welcome and I am so sorry.  These are difficult times and years.  Please take care of yourself.  Please meditate, pray anything to preserve your sanity.

I think kids are eventually going to turn out the way they turn out.  We just need to take care of ourselves and love our kids at the same time.

Yep, Celestina, anger is certainly one of the emotions we go through!  Accept it as part of the process because it helps to release steam... .eases you into the next phase.

Be kind to yourself and know that you are doing the best you can.  You only have so much control over what your daughter ever decides to do.

Thankfully someone has given her "ailment" a possible diagnoses... .a name.  That will give you (and her!) something to work on.

Hugs (--) to you, Mom!  Deep breaths... .and carry on.   ; )

Hold on tight... .it is going to be a bumpy ride. I am glad you found this site because I know it can give you the support you need right now and going forward. I am happy your DD is in RTC... .ue the time to rest and research BPD. The articles to the left are very helpful so when you can try to read them. It is very important to work on communication skills... .your dd is getting help but it is the whole family that needs to educate themselves.

please stay with us and ask questions... .things will get better

Hi Celestina,

How are you holding up dear?  How is your d doing in the RTC?  Is this a long term placement for her that will work with your family to improve communication and coping skills?

We look forward to hearing back from you and walking with you on your journey.
