Title: Adult children with BPD Post by: Chandra on May 18, 2016, 04:06:33 PM My adult has had many problems in her life. She seems to have a lot of BPD traits. I would like to hear how other families cope.

Welcome to the Parenting Board, we are glad that you are here with us and seeking answers through the experiences of others who travel the same path you are on. Some of us are traveling a well worn path and others are just at the beginning of the journey. What binds us together is our love for our (very difficult!) children and the need to be able to survive parenting them. On the right side of the page are the Tools and Lessons. This is a great collection of proven techniques, helpful information, and solutions to the common problems we face parenting children/adult children with this disorder. Starting at the top with "Start Here" will give you a good idea of what this site is all about. When I first came here I was looking for the answer "What can I do to help my 12 year old daughter?" There was no simple or easy answer. I soon realized through reading the stories of others that it would take a commitment on my part to improve my own levels of knowledge, skills, and personal well being so that I could be in a position to help my daughter. The members here supported me, encouraged me, celebrated with me, and cried with me through it all. Today my d is 19 and doing very well inspite of tough circumstances and I am proud of her and she is proud of me. I know that you will get the same support here as I did. lbj Title: Re: Adult children with BPD Post by: Lollypop on May 22, 2016, 02:24:35 AM HI chandra
I just wanted to reach out to you. My adult son is 25 and returned home to live last December. He was diagnosed in sept and went into a downward spiral. Since then I've been reading here, posting and learning so much. It's been a life saver for my family. How old is your adult? Are they living independently? What's your main problem at the moment that you may need support with? L |
