Title: Does your family, ever have any friendship with ex BPD
Post by: spooktor on May 22, 2016, 04:54:40 PM
How does the family of the non BPD ex, feel towards the ex BPD partner, of their family member?

Has their been any experience ( of people on this messageboard ) where there is any communication, forgiveness or continued friendship with the person whom has caused their family member so much heartache, and mental abuse... .or is the no contact method, taken on in most cases, by the non BPD family?

Hello Spooktor,

I can only speak for myself, but in my case both my parents were extremely mad at her in the first place. We did not know yet she had BPD at the time though. When we found out, they were a bit more forgiving, like: "oh, she's sick so at least that explains a little". So in my case the BPD actually helped the "forgiving process" because it gave some kind of closure and explanation for her behavior.

We tried to talk sense into her a few times but failed so we decided no contact would be the best way to go (although I have broken that NC several times... ). Again I can only speak for myself and I believe everybody reacts differently.
