I've been told that my daughter probably has BPD. I'm reading up on it and worried. I feel guilty that I may have caused this and made it worse by ignoring/not recognizing the symptoms. How can I help her and not make things worse?

Hello Guilty Mom,

How old is your daughter, and who suggested BPD?

That you are reaching out for support is a significant step in making things better. Members here go or have gone through the same struggles, even feelings of guilt. You are in the right place to be heard  :) Take a look at the lessons to the right of the board to start.

What would you say are your biggest struggles right now?

*welcome*

Hi Guilty Mom,

*welcome*

I would like to join Turkish welcome you. I would feel anxious to hear that a loved one suffered from BPD. It helps to read as much as you can about clinical information on the disorder, you will quickly see the benefits and become proficient over time. I had similar feelings about not knowing a loved one was suffering from a mental illness, I'm not doctor, I had to cut myself slack. I'd like to echo Turkish, you're trying to make things better  :)

Regards,

Mutt
