She pointed out a building while riding in a car, said" that looks new" to which I responded in a calm voice, " no, I think it's been here about 10 years". Her response was " why do you always have to right. That degenerated into a silent period, she walked out of my house and I have not seen her since. Title: Re: Why did this cause so much trouble? Don't focus on the facts of the building age, but rather "why do you always have to right"? She is saying that you are triggering feeling of poor self-worth rather than validating and building her up.
This stuff is hard - but it is human nature and extends beyond those with BPD traits - pPD just react more. You are an intelligent guy - she's attracted to that - she is also sometimes diminished by it. Any thoughts on how to better deal with this? |
