Title: Oh no, I sent her a poem
Post by: kc sunshine on June 05, 2016, 06:26:39 PM
This one:

A happy ending of sorts

My love in someone else’s arms

Me gliding through the warm waters at midnight, free

Frenzied young fireflies exploding in the trees like fireworks,

Millions of them

Steady glowing stars—even more of them—watching them

Like calm older siblings from above

And the smell!

Wild rose, intoxicating and invasive,

Delicious even though I know

It spells disaster

Like her perfume on you

When you’d come home to me

There was a moment went I thought I lost my friend on the dark lake

But I called for her and she was still there

The night safe again, a way home sure

If unknown

Why did I do it? No word from her. Gang, if you are contemplating sending your ex, don't do it-- a 10 on the richter scale of anxiety!

It's really well done. I read it 4 times just to enjoy it. Nicely done.

Things like this may not be the best conversation starter in a strained relationship. It's deep and emotional.

Light and easy (nonthreatening) usually is a better probe.

An non-response is a non-response, but it was read and it likely landed to some extent - just not enough to elicit a response.

She ended up responding eventually-- she said it was good but it made her feel a little bad. I was able to let it be and move to lighter banter, phew, in a way that bodes well for friendship. Fingers crossed.

Sometimes, I feel like we should really document our interactions with our exes. They would make interesting TV series.
