Title: Alternative add-on treatment, anyone?
Post by: Bright Day Mom on June 12, 2016, 03:06:30 PM
Hello everyone,

I'm not sure if this is posted in the right area... .I figured I'm parenting a d, so why not here.

Has anyone tried any form of alternative treatment in conjunction with (not saying instead of) US standards?

We have tried acupuncture a few times in the past to no benefit (it may have needed more the 3-4 treatments).

Also had chiropractic adjustments, relief from chronic pain due to depression was very temporarily relieved.

Last week I took my d16 for a Reiki treatment and she feels a bit of a benefit/relief so much so that she asked me to book another appointment for this week.

Please let me know of any experiences, thanks for reading and have a Bright Day!

Hey Bright Day Mom:

Yesterday, another mom was seeking some suggestions for anxiety relief tools for her 15 year-old son.  You can click on the link below to get to that thread for some suggestions.  Although the request related to anxiety for a non, anxiety is usually one of the issues BPD have to deal with

Great idea to try different tools.

HERE IS A LINK TO THAT THREAD?

What has helped my d in the past is being extremely busy in sports etc and around great people.  Keeping her away from the wrong crowd and having goals.  As much as this helped it wasn't enough.

She was also doing better when she was seeing a chiropractor neurologist.  Not sure if she was actually doing better at that time do to the sports etc., but I've always wondered if seeing the neurologist had a lot to do with it.  He had also put her on a group of vitamins after doing blood work.  She didn't stick to the vitamins and keeping up with the appointments was too much so we stopped.

We are hoping to get my d involved in volunteering soon.  The problem is that she doesn't drive and it takes so much of our time to take her to all her activities that she needs to stay positive and busy.

She was doing yoga, which she really liked and seemed to help with anxiety.

Thank you for the replies.   I am a big fan of trying new things, after all you never know until you give it a try!

The Reiki thus far seems to be helping.  I was surprised when some old memories / thoughts came thru, but supposedly it is not uncommon and often times helps process and close any untied loose ends.

Have a bright day!
