Title: Stressful Day Post by: JerryRG on June 13, 2016, 07:30:10 PM Finally filed the restraining order against my son's mother's bf. I was advised to do this to ensure my son remains safe while in her care. I feel like I just threw a rock at a wasp nest, in the past my attempts to do anything positive were usually disastrous. The judge granted the po in a very short time and set a court date to determine if it needs to be reinforced futher.
Something inside me feels wrong, I know I had no choice but to file. I did find out I made a mistake in not insisting I maintain custody until she resolves this issue with her bf. I will not allow my son to be with someone who beats women! I don't know if this is the proper place to post this but I'm worried for my son and hope for resolution. This is draining. Sounds like you are in a very stressful situation. It can be hard to decide on the best way to handle something. Erring on the side of safety is usually the best decision. Unfortunately, we can't please everyone and there is a pro and con to every action. Sorry you are dodging those hornets right now. What makes you feel wrong? When is the next court date? Hopefully the next court date is soon and you can get an order to maintain custody at that time. Quote from: JerryRG I will not allow my son to be with someone who beats women! Great decision for you to take action to keep the abusive boyfriend away! Even if your son's mom is angry right now, you did her a favor. Title: Re: Stressful Day Post by: Thunderstruck on June 15, 2016, 11:17:32 AM That's good that it was granted. I'm sorry you're stressed about it but it was the right thing.
I'm very surprised CPS didn't do anything! Was your son there to witness the DV? That is considered child abuse because the concern is that the child will try to get in between to "protect" mommy and will get hurt in the process. The police are also mandatory reporters. |
