When I think back over the years of the drama we have lived through with our (undiagnosed) BPDD, I shudder. Oh how I needed to hear in those times that others were experiencing the heartbreak of estrangement from their BPD child and separation from their beloved grandchildren. Oh how I needed an outlet like "BPD Family"! No one in our circle of friends could relate to our stories. We were so isolated. In reading through these threads, it is so obvious that estrangement is a common tool used by BPD's... .the ultimate "punishment." Well, I have gradually learned that it is up to me how things unfold. I must not react. I must not expose "the button." Recently I heard someone say, "You can't control the wind but you can adjust your sails."
