Title: 19 year old daughter suffering from BPD and addiction Post by: theclimbup on August 21, 2016, 04:08:42 PM Hi there!
My daughter has suffered from BPD since around 10-11, she's been in and out of rehab since Feb of 2015. I am struggling to find her the right care and am here to see if I can have better luck, and hopefully offer my own experiences as well. Currently she needs a residential facility due to the addiction - she is extremely unsafe on her own, suicidal and manipulative and untrustworthy. She has been given so many chances to do the right thing and all her counselors and social workers say she's incapable of making decisions on her own. I feel like I'm running out of options for her. That's my story so far. Title: Re: 19 year old daughter suffering from BPD and addiction Post by: Mutt on August 22, 2016, 03:50:08 PM *welcome* I'd like to welcome you to bpdfamily. I'm so sorry to hear that you're D19 is going through a difficult time. I can see how that would feel distressing, anxious and hopeless. There is hope. You'll find many members here that share similar experiences and can offer you guidance and support, you're not alone. Does your D19 have siblings? How are they coping? How are you doing? I've located treatment settings from the NAMI website, there's a helpline on the right side, they're open M-F AM - 6 PM ET. There's also a drop down selection for your state. www.nami.org/Learn-More/Treatment/Treatment-Settings Please keep us informed. Has your d19 been in dual diagnoses facilities previously? Addressing the addiction and the underlying cause of addiction may get a better result. How long is she typically in a facility? I look forward to hearing back from you and learning more about you and your d19. lbj ps... .I also have a d19, she was dx with emerging BPD at 12 years old. We don't have drug or alcohol addiction issues to deal with thankfully. |
