Title: Just figured it out...
Post by: LifeStartsNow on November 05, 2016, 04:43:05 PM
Hello, I am sitting her out in the cold at a Charity event having the most peaceful day I have had in a long time. Not long ago I got the gift of knowledge that my wife has Borderline Personality Disorder. This has been like the Rosetta Stone for understanding her and why she behaves the way she does and the window for me to start figuring out how to deal with it.

I have gone from having my wedding ring off and on my way out the door to having hope for our relationship for the first the in a long time. Knowing that my reactions to her behavior were making things so much worse and that I need to educate myself on how to cope, take care of myself and hopefully if she is willing get her into therapy.

I am 52 year old man with four children (one still at home), three step children (none at home) and one grandchild who we have permanent custody of. I am glad to be on this road to understanding and making a better life for all of us at home.

Have a great day!

Hi LifeStartsNow,

Welcome  :)

Discovering that there is a name for what are often confusing behaviors can be a real relief. Learning the communication and relationship skills wont' cure BPD but they can make things better.

What are some of the behaviors that you are struggling with?
