Post by: Remige on November 11, 2016, 02:07:42 AM

After years of knowing my son had something going on and then the last 2 years of suicide attempts my 19 year old son was finally diagnosed today with BPD SO MANY THINGS MAKE SENSE now. :) This is all very new to my family and me.At this moment we are exhausted but so glad something has finally been found.Looking forward to having people to talk with and share good and bad times

Welcome to our family Remige.  So sorry for the circumstances though... .
Here you will find many who have and are walking in your shoes, it's very helpful in this journey to know you are not alone.  Since you've just found out the diagnosis, your education is just beginning.  On the right side of this page you will find lessons and tools that can help you along the way.  Try not to learn too much too quickly would be my suggestion, take things slowly and digest them.
Another thing to make sure you do is to take care of yourself... .dealing with a person with BPD (pwBPD) can be mentally, emotionally, and even physically draining.  There will be many ups and downs, and plenty of mistakes made... .make sure you remain very compassionate with yourself and know it's ok for you to make mistakes too!
If you read through some others posts... .even old ones, I'm sure you will find so many that you could have written yourself.  Sharing is a very helpful tool for many, and we look forward to hearing more from you.  You've found the right place!
Do you have a therapist you see yourself?

Welcome and hello Remige  :)

I wanted to join drained1996 in welcoming you. It must have been very scary to stand by for 2 years of suicide attempts  and feel at a loss without having a diagnosis to explain what was happening. Is your son living with you? How is he responding to the diagnosis?

We are here to walk with you.
