Title: Dealing W/ Severe Anxiety
Post by: scraps66 on November 12, 2016, 07:55:39 AM
Over the last 16 months I have endured what had appeared to be symptoms arising from acid reflux.  Symptoms such as, chest discomfort and pain, inability to burp, and stomach discomfort similar to acid reflux.  Through numerous doctor visits and tests, endoscopy, upper GI, stress test, esophageal examinations and numerous medications that had no effect, I am back to square one with the same symptoms.

Reflecting on everything that has gone on in this period of time, watching my ex portray her boyfriend as the father of our S9 and S12, sever social and behavioral issues with S12, I ma now considering that all of my symptoms may very well be caused and related to the anxiety I am feeling about my situation with an exNPDBPD administering PAS.

Over this period of time I am stuck watching our S9s athletic activities with exwuNPDBPD boyfriend.  So I watch and hear the whole story, ex and the charming public personae, and then I listen to the boyfriend, who bystanders would think is the dad, TELL ME about my own children.  But like many here, I know the hole story that I cannot tell, that this is all a façade.

So has anyone else dealt with this and am I potentially correct that all of my feelings may be linked to simple anxiety?

I have always had difficult mentally distracting myself from negative thinking even before ex was in the picture.  I was brought up as a single child in a pessimistic but positive family atmosphere - no abuse.

I can relate with having a hard time distracting myself. Do you work out?

According to some studies, regular exercise works as well as medication for some people to reduce symptoms of anxiety and depression, and the effects can be long lasting. One vigorous exercise session can help alleviate symptoms for hours, and a regular schedule may significantly reduce them over time.

It's funny you say that, Mutt.  That is the one thing I haven't been able to get back into and I know that exercise has benefits.  I am struggling getting back into the routine when three years ago I had no issue going to the gym at 5am.  And I've suffered from not keeping up with the exercise.  I'm hoping that I can get it together and that solves a lot of issues.

I know it's hard to go to the gym when your anxiety symptoms flare up. Try focusing on one thing at a time. Just try stepping into the gym for a workout and don't think about the whole routine.
