Title: Working to make things better and hold family together Post by: GeorgeEllsworth on November 26, 2016, 02:57:26 PM Hello all,
My spouse has been struggling with BPD for 12 of the 14 years of our marriage. It was only in the last year that we officially nailed down the diagnosis of BPD, before that it was Bipolar 2 or major depressive disorder. Luckily, my wife is in weekly group and individual treatments specifically for people with BPD. Before that, it was years of shotgun medications, several hospitalizations and finally (out of desperation) ECT treatments which did little more than impair some of her thinking along with causing memory loss. We are both committed to each other but she runs between either loving me intensely or hating me. Then she deals with lots of self-loathing and wanting to kill herself because of the pain she causes me and our children. It would be great to talk with other people who are also committed to "sticking it out" with their spouse. Thanks. |
