Title: Hello from me
Post by: Georgia5211 on November 28, 2016, 05:41:17 AM
Hi Everyone,
I am a 51 year old woman. My mother has been in emotional pain all her life.  Her relationships have almost all disintegrated.  Anyone close to her has been ripped to shreds over the years.  She had been to many therapists in the past but with no real improvement. I recognise that my mother experiences great anguish, I love her, but I cannot help her. She almost destroyed me but I have escaped due to new understanding. These days I have to do my best to survive her. It is so tragic because the real person underneath the illness is wonderful, loving and passionate about life. It has been over the last 2 years that I have come to believe mum has BPD - I am certain of this despite not being a doctor myself, but my whole life living and knowing her tells me this is the case.
I guess I am seeking a support group because right now she is in one of the worst places emotionally she's ever been.  She used to be "the Queen" and that stopped working so she's become "the Waif". She is at war with herself and my sister is the current target. I am supporting my sister, who is hurting, yet strong and is in Alcoholics Anonymous (she doesn't mind me saying so) so she has some coping methods around distancing oneself with love etc.
I may be able to offer support to others too. Thank you for this group. Georgia.

Welcome Georgia!

You've come to a great place to find other members who will support and validate you, offering encouragement and hope. There is a lot to read here at the site, and reading through other posts can be really helpful too.

Good for you that you've read and educated yourself about BPD, thus helping you to understand some of what is going on with your uBPDm. My mom was like yours, an uBPD. It is a horrendous PD to work with. I'm so thankful that you are supporting your sister!  |iiii She needs you very much, especially when the worst of the emotional and verbal attacks are taking place. Holidays can be the worst, and perhaps that is why your mom is making life even harder right now. What do you think?

Keep posting and as you feel free, please share more of your story.
