I am looking for a place to learn more about BPD.  My sister who lives with me
has BPD and I want to understand it better.

Thanks again

*welcome*

Hi desdemonaT and welcome.  You have found the right place for information on BPD as well as support and guidance to help you along the way.  To the right of this page you will note some lessons and a guide that will help you along the way.  Also, at the top of every page you will note the tools section, again, information that I have found very helpful.  If you navigate around the site you will find all kinds of information from book reviews to videos, I suggest to take your time as there can be a tendency to overload your mind at first.
Another thing I personally found helpful was reading the stories of others and noting many eerily similar situations... .it let me know I was not alone in what I was going through.  I also found it very therapeutic to share here, and the more I shared the more I got in return!
Has your sister been diagnosed?  Is she seeing a therapist?  Do you find yourself being a parent to your sister?
We are here anytime for support and guidance!  Feel free to post with any questions or thoughts you may want to share at anytime.  You've found the right place!

Hi desdemonaT

I would like to join drained1996 in welcoming you here. You are looking for a place to learn more about BPD and I think you've definitely come to the right place for that.

BPD is a difficult disorder but I have found that when it comes to dealing with my BPD family-members, knowledge truly is power. Though I might not be able to make them change, learning about BPD and the various tools described on this site, has changed and empowered me.

Your sister lives with you and has BPD. I can imagine how difficult that could potentially be for you, having an undiagnosed BPD older sister myself. Could you perhaps tell us a bit more about your sister? What are the BPD traits that you would say characterize her the most?

Do you feel like your sister acknowledges that there might be something wrong with her behavior?

Take care and I encourage you to keep on posting and to indeed look around on this site

Yes, she is diagnosed and takes medication.  She is also bipolar and has depression.  She recently lost her husband to cancer after an exhausting 2 year battle.  So it's hard to know what to say when.  Not knowing if I'm doing more harm than helping.  Most days we just don't talk.

I'm looking forward to reading here when I can get the quiet time.  Thank you alon for the warm welcome.

Seems like this is a pretty difficult situation on you.  Make sure you have plenty of self compassion for yourself during this time.  You are not alone.  I'm going to reach a little and say you may find yourself in a kind of parenting role to your sister... .I know I am with my mother.
