Title: how do i begin?
Post by: stairlady on December 13, 2016, 03:49:58 AM
I have an adult daughter with BPD, recently diagnosed, living at home with us.
I don't know how to cope any more.

Hi there stairlady,

*welcome*

We are glad you found us, sorry it's under difficult circumstances.  It's mentally, emotionally and physically draining to have a loved one in our lives that suffers from BPD.  Here, we get that, and most of us either are or have dealt with situations you are facing daily.  You are not alone!
To the right of this page you will see some tools and lessons that can help you in your journey.  One thing many of us here have come to understand is we cannot change our person with BPD (pwBPD) but we can change how we react to and communicate with them.  Combining a working knowledge of the illness with centering ourselves and using some new communication practices can go a long way in improving some situations.
What are some of the day to day issues you find yourself struggling with?
Has she been diagnosed?
Have you thought about seeking out a therapist to help guide you in this process?  Many here have found a professional guide to be an absolute blessing.  I know I have!
Feel free to share any thoughts, feelings or questions anytime.  You've found the right place.  We are here

Hi stairlady,

*welcome*

I'd like to join drained1996 and welcome you. I'm glad that you have found us, how old is your D, does she have siblings? You don't have to go through this alone, it helps to talk. Hang in there.
