Title: Hello out there.
Post by: Amazon butterfly on December 15, 2016, 04:38:35 PM
My daughter has always been over sensitive and over reacts to situations. Last year she took her first overdose which came out of the blue. She also revealed that she was having a horrible time in school (she would come home happy and giddy). She had meetings with the local community mental health team for a year. Then she had exams in June and when they ended a all hell broke loose. She had five or six a&he visits in a matter of months from overdoses as well as a stay in an inpatient unit. It was only when a new psychiatric doctor took over and an interest in her case that the term borderline personality disorder  was thrown out. To say it was a shock amount other shocks was a understatement. Since this we have been dealing with different therapists and there opinions, changing meds, family reactions, falling out with friends, suicide attempts, extreme moods, intense relAtionships with no one who can relate as a parent. Hoping to find support and people who get it.

Hello to you. Yes. I get it. My 23D has not been diagnosed cuz she won't go to a doctor. Well I take that back. She is going now because she wants disability or needs it. She never leaves her room.
So yes. I get it. We are not alone.

Welcome Amazon Butterfly

I am sorry your family is going thru this.  Lots of parents here can relate to you.  My D16 dx last winter finally after 5 different hospitalizations, IOP, PHP programs and a whole lot more.   I found the dx difficult to comprehend, went thru the whole "why, what did I do, could have done, etc".  You have come to the right place... .the lessons and tools to the right are a wonderful resource for us and I've learned  a lot there.

You are supported and not alone.

My daughter has always been over sensitive and over reacts to situations.

This describes a lot of BPD sufferers. How do you respond when she over reacts?

How old is your daughter? Does she accept she is BPD?

Glad you found the site, and sorry for what brings you here

We're here to walk with you as you learn more about the disorder and skills that can help.
