Title: Break through
Post by: Tigercin on January 22, 2017, 11:24:33 PM
Last Thursday, we had a break through with my 16yo daughter. At one of her last swim meets if the season, they did Senior Nighy, and all the senior girls were supposed to have an underclassman give a little speech for her. Well, one of the girls didnt have anyone because the girl didnt show up. My daughter stepped out of her comfort zone and walked up and gave an impromptu speech for the girl. I had never been so proud (for more reasons than one). My husband and I almost started crying. It was almost as if we had gotten our old daughter back... .I know its a small step, but it was wonderful. And I know we still have a long way to go. But at least she is working on getting better and wants to.

I just have one question... .she has a hard time sleeping or falling asleep. Any suggestions? She is taking Abilify at night as prescribed. We just dont know what we should try for her.

Hey Tigercin

So glad to hear about your daughter's accomplishment.  |iiii

One thing to try for your daughter is some guided meditation. There are a lot of free meditations on You Tube. Some of them are specifically to bring on sleep. You can get a little free download tool, download from You Tube and then load onto some electronic device for use without an Internet connection. Also, limit your daughters use of devices with bright screens before bedtime.  Too much time on electronic devices can bring on insomnia for many people.
