Title: Help Me Cop With my Friend Post by: Texas Tina on January 24, 2017, 02:57:33 PM I just wonder if there is anybody out there that has a friend that has BPD. It's strange to me that I would tolerate this from a friend for so many years.

Is this friend just a platonic friend, or someone with whom you have had a romantic relationship with? Platonic. We are both female; friends since 16; we are both now 61 ! THAT is how long I have dealt with this. I never knew what was wrong with her when she'd have these outbursts. When I saw that book 'Stop Walking on Eggshells' I bought it, read it and finally realized what was wrong with her. Why did I keep this relationship for so long? You tell me! I am kidding of course, I think I know why. We relied on each other a great deal. Long long lift long story. I created a life for myself; she never did. I am all she has. Never dated, no children no spouse, and as years have passed no friends except me. And now I am all she wants. For everything. I can't fill her ever need. Wow, she is a long-time friend, 45 years.  :)o you think of her as a sibling? You say she never dated. Some people may choose not to marry, or didn't because of some set of circumstances. It is unusual for someone to never have dated. Is this something you ever discussed with her? What are some of her needs that she wants you to meet? Welcome ! All of us here understand the dynamics of BPD, so you have landed well. You are saying you and your friend relied on each other a great deal. Is that still so ? |
