Title: 1st meeting tomorrow
Post by: Jester20 on February 07, 2017, 01:02:23 PM
So... .I attend my first support session tomorrow evening that is provided by our NHS for people who live with someone who is BPD. I have a mixture of emotions... .I am nervous because I do not know what to expect and looking forward to it a little too as I will be able to meet other people who are in the same situation as me... .hoping they will understand me. My husband knows I am going... .I think the facilitator of his group told him about this support service for me. It will be a tight squeeze as I will have to rush there from work but I think it is doable and it is only every fortnight.
I have also been reading my book " how to stop walking on eggshells".
I'm feeling ok and I think that is the best I can expect at the moment. I haven't felt ok for a very long time so it is actually a pleasant suprice that I am feeling ok.
The only thing with feeling ok is I get too excited about things going well and then it is so easy to all come crashing down around me and then I feel so angry at myself that I expected things to stay good for any length of time. So I usually am cautiously ok... .can anyone else relate to this?

It would surprise me if any here couldn't relate to the fear of getting too comfortable and then having everything crash down. We've all been through a lot and so it's natural to expect the worst. Letting go of all expectations, both good and bad, is hard. Life hurts far less when you do though.

But, letting go of expectations doesn't mean that you don't have to protect yourself with well defined and maintained boundaries.

The support group sounds interesting. I hope that it turns out to be a safe place for you and that you feel comfortable there. You'll have to let us know how it goes if you feel comfortable doing that.
