Title: looking for common experiences Post by: North Carolina on October 25, 2024, 08:05:15 AM I got a lot of support and validation using this site on “BP kids” when my daughter was 8. At the time she was dx GAD depression, one doctor dx bipolar. She had a very turbulent childhood and young adulthood. She is now dx BPD, ADD, pstd, probably still BP but has been on medication so long they are unable to dx.
This dx is harder for me because, she blames me for a childhood that gave her this disorder. She resents me. I am bipolar and her father was an alcoholic. I thought I was a good mother. I did everything to help her and believed she was ill. Other family members thought she was spoiled, manipulative… Now I am dealing with her anger and vicious rages and insults. We all feel guilt over our kid's mental illness due in part to the fact we have no control over their mental illness. And it is a daily struggle for us parents. Thank you for reaching out and having us be a part of your support network. We are here for you and each other. |
