A PD plus substance abuse is a lot for any relationship to navigate. How long have you two been together? Does your spouse see alcohol use as a problem too, or just you? It's nice to have others understand how difficult it is to deal with a spouse with BPD and alcohol addiction. We have been married 22 years. He does think his drinking is a problem especially since he has legal issues due to driving under the influence. But he still will not stop abusing alcohol and blames me for the issues in our marriage. He gets very angry when he is drinking and wants to argue. I try to stay calm and not argue back but it's taking a toll on my mental health.
Title: Re: Seeking Support Post by: 314rabbit on January 02, 2025, 09:06:45 AM Al-Anon helps me a lot with navigating my relationship to my BPD spouse, even though they aren't addicted to alcohol. They welcome me just the same. It may be a good place to start looking for support in your own community, in addition to online spaces like BPDFamily.
