Title: Re: My family is under so much stress Post by: kells76 on March 14, 2025, 01:33:50 PM Hi CAMom and a warm *welcome*
Many families here will understand the extreme stress you're under. When BPD is in a family system, regardless of who has it, it makes parenting and relating so, so difficult (my husband's kids' mom has many traits, and that has significantly impacted the kids and our parenting). It's good that you reached out for extra help and support right now  Tell me some more about your family. Do you have a spouse/partner? If so, how are the two of you doing -- on the same page, struggling, doing well, in therapy, not in therapy...? How many kids are in your family, and how old are they? When/how did your youngest get diagnosed with BPD, and does your child accept the diagnosis? Some pwBPD (persons with BPD) find it a relief to be officially diagnosed while some reject it entirely -- just depends on the person. ... A good starting place here at bpdfamily.com, when your child has BPD, is our article on Supporting a Child in Therapy for Borderline Personality Disorder (https://bpdfamily.com/content/support-child-therapy). Even if your child isn't currently actively in therapy, the suggestions, insights, and mindsets can be helpful in a family setting, too. When you have a minute, I'd encourage you to check it out, and let us know if anything in there stands out to you or could apply to your situation. ... Fill us in some more on your story, whenever works best for you; we'll be here. kells76 |
