Title: Adult child Post by: Mimi S on April 30, 2025, 11:14:53 AM Coming to grips with the fact that our 29 year old daughter’s outbursts, escalations , threats of suicide are signs of BPD. Exhausted, depressed and depleted from the last outburst. I am also grieving that family gatherings will need to exclude her. On one hand she’s highly capable. She holds down a job . She can be generous and kind. Then there’s the side where she cannot control her rage and she is horrible to her siblings. Tearing apart the family, pitting people against each other. It’s too much.

My 24 y/o pwBPD (daughter) cut me, her father, her sister and her beautiful nieces "OFF" with ZERO warning. I have not seen her for nearly 3 years, though she texts (really, if she needs something, i.e. money), so, I cannot relate to some of your issue (the GRIEVING of things, activities, expectations, hopes, etc. is mentioned a lot in the group); however, my grandmothers' mother was also diagnosed with BPD (what are the chances? I have 2!) and she has alienated most of her family (I am not related TO her) to the point of limited family gatherings (I saw it first hand at my granddaughter's birthday dinner): it is just such a sad "disease"; I have researched it very much, however, do not pretend to understand, just know it is devastating to all involved; please hang in there :)
