Title: I’m struggling
Post by: HowdIgethere on September 01, 2025, 03:52:32 PM
Hello everyone,
I have recently been putting boundaries in place for when my BPD partner yells or punches things or throws things. I let him know that I will give him the opportunity to calm down and continue the conversation or I will leave or hang up the phone until he contacts me since he is having trouble regulating his emotions
.
I enforced this boundary recently. (I moved out of the house 6 months ago and we are trying to work our relationship out). He texted me 3 days later saying he is sorry for everything he’s done to me and for ruining our family and that he loves me. I replied letting him know I love him also.

I reached out to him to check on him. He said he didn’t want to talk. It’s been another 48 hours since his apology/5 days since I left after he yelled. I think he realizes he cannot control his temper at all right now and is therefore avoiding me. He has said many times in the past that he “doesn’t trust himself.”He has been in CBT therapy for almost 2 years with very little change IMO. In fact, we have both recognized a significant decline in his mental health. He is taking medication and is managed regularly by his practitioner. He has a DBT therapy “interview” coming up shortly. I would appreciate any insight any of you may have. Thank you.
