Title: trying to figure things out Post by: Mitapoocha on February 12, 2017, 07:15:40 PM This is very weird and awkward for me. I don't know if this will help. I also don't know if I'll get an answer. I don't feel comfortable talking about my situation. I feel very alone. I believe my mom has BPD. It's not diagnosis and she refuses treatment. She has been very angry at me for the past three days. I've tried to remove myself as best as I can. Is there anyone out there who grew up with a BPD parent that will talk to me.
Title: Re: trying to figure things out Post by: Naughty Nibbler on February 12, 2017, 07:31:51 PM Welcome Mitapoocha: This is a safe place to share, when you are ready. I know that people with BPD (pwBPD) traits can seem to get mad over nothing. Do you have any idea what your mom is mad about this time? Do you live with her? Does she have a pattern when she give you "The Silent Treatment" (any average time she stays silent)? You don't have to know a diagnosis to try some communication skills. The skills you can learn here can be helpful to use with anyone. You can't change your mom, but by using some skills, you can make things easier for you. We look forward to hearing more of your story, when you are ready to share some more. Title: Re: trying to figure things out Post by: Fie on February 13, 2017, 02:56:58 PM Hello Mitapoocha
I have a BPDmum too. Most of the people don't understand why we don't have a good relationship, and they think I am to blame. Here you will find a lot of people who understand. Everyone here at least has one BPD family member or partner. No one will judge you, and we will try to help. If you want, you can tell us your story. So as I said, my mum has BPD. My dad has NPD traits and he totally enables my mum. I have a sister with ... .guess what ? BPD traits. Same counts for my paternal grandma. I have a daughter too, she's lovely, and non BPD :-) |
