My significant other is struggling with her BPD and is going to work with her PCP to see if she can switch medications. She is currently on Paxil. I wanted to ask if anyone’s loved one had a similar experience where they were looking to switch from one medication to another and how it worked for them? Bonus points if it was Paxil to a new med. Thanks!

Medications work differently for everyone, so there's no one-size-fits-all solution. It's often trying and adjusting several times before the right mix of meds is prescribed. Even then, getting the dosages dialed in can take time. I'll also add that BPD is not treated with medications like other mental illnesses. Therapy is the long-term solution and the meds are there to help with some of the symptoms during that process. So don't expect medicine to act as a cure. |
