Title: That was fast daughter sure she doesn't have BPD Post by: 7babies on February 23, 2017, 08:27:18 PM So my 18 yo was dx on 2/14. She had an individual counseling session today. She told me tonight that it went badly, she refused to monitor her moods, she refuses to change her personality or go to the dbt she agreed to. I stayed calm and used skills I've read about here. Then she was mad that I wouldn't argue. A giant fight means I care according to her. She said she was disappointed. She said mean things. I asked her to leave my room and when she just stared I left so I guess not devolving into a screaming match is good but I'm betting she will keep pushing. So frustrating.

I am sorry to hear that things didn't go so well in your daughter's first counseling session. This was just the first step though and hopefully things will improve in the future. Many other members with BPD children have gone through ups and down, your daughter seems very resistant now but things can still change. I think it's great that you managed to stay calm and use the tools you've been reading about |iiii Has your daughter shared why she doesn't feel her BPD diagnosis is right? Is it perhaps because she feels she doesn't meet the criteria for it? What does she believe is going on with her? |
