Title: Just coming to understand my 28 yo son has BPD+
Post by: Alimomma on March 01, 2017, 07:43:30 PM
Hello everyone. This is my first time here and I'm hoping to find support and mutual understanding of what I'm up against and how best to deal with my adult son and how to best take care of myself.
My counselor suggested a couple good books and things started to click, not only describing my son, but also a lot of it explains my new husband's behaviors towards me. I feel so isolated and alone. Between the two of them there are days when living is just too hard.

Hi Alimomma,

*welcome*

I'd like to welcome you to bpdfamily. I'm sorry to hear that  Thats good news that you're going to a counselor, what books did he recommended? Maybe it's something that i'd be interested in too  :)

It helps to talk to people that can relate with you and offer you guidance and support, it can be difficult for friends and family to "get it" if the behaviors are not directed at them. You'll not alone.

It's important that you take good care of yourself when you have a loved one with mental illness, it also helps to go out and spend time with family and friends, it's a part of self care and you can get a realistic picture about yourself, a pwBPD will have a lot of negative things to say about you it's a distorted perspective that can you feel anxious and confused.

Is your son diagnosed with BPD? Is your H diagnosed? How old is your son?
