Title: It's actually me...

Hello:

I've never been diagnosed with BPD or other antisocial disorders, but I see a lot of the traits in my own character. I will do anything to avoid messing up my relationship... .once again.

I am a 47 year old, twice-divorced father of two teen boys. My most recent divorce was from a very destructive alcoholic woman, and I am so happy to be free of that relationship. It ended in May 2015. Since August 2015, I have been in a wonderful relationship with a 43 year old, divorced mother of two teen boys. For the vast majority of the relationship, we have been completely wonderful to one another... .with a few very significant breakdowns (all exacerbated by my inability to cope well with conflict).

This past October, she and I had an argument and split. I thought it was over forever. I fell into a deep depression and it almost cost me my life. She, on the other hand, was able to move on rather quickly. She knows what she wants from life and from her partner, and she continued to look for it. While I was licking my wounds, she sought and found another man. She dated him for several months.

Last week, she started contacting me again. It was seemingly out of the blue. She eventually let me know that she had not been able to completely let go of her feelings for me, and that her new relationship was over. She wanted to let me know that she truly believes we are meant to be together for the rest of our lives. She wants to reunite and begin again, if possible.

I love her with every ounce of my being. I want to be the right man for her, and I want to commit myself to positive changes.

What is causing you to think you may have BPD or BPD traits?
