Title: learning about my mother and BPD
Post by: growinggirl on March 11, 2017, 12:55:38 AM
Hello All,

I have just come to realization that  my mother may be BPD. It is a relief to know that I am not all of those things that I grew up being told and believing I am.
It is daunting to think of this new journey I am undertaking in learning more about her and myself and how to have a safe relationship with her.
I am reading the book and am eager to speak with others who understand what my past was like and what my future may hold.

Welcome growinggirl:

Welcome to the community.  You will find a lot of good listening ears and helpful people willing to share and offer opinions.  What book are you reading?  Is it "Stop Walking on Egg Shells?"

It can be a bit of a relief to put a label on what is wrong with someone in your life.  What are some of the worst behaviors your mom has exhibited?

There are a lot of good tutorials here for communication skills and boundaries.  If you look at the large green band at the top of the page, you will find a "Tools" menu.  There are some good lessons/tutorials there that you can start with.  You can't change your mom, but you can learn certain communication skills and set boundaries that can make things better for you

We look forward to hearing more of your story, when you are ready to share more.
