Title: Sister with BPD symptoms
Post by: Cindy123 on March 29, 2017, 12:22:40 PM
Hi,
I am new to this site . I used to have a close relationship with my sister
(Or so I thought). She has BPD behavior. She has had arguments
With me that are explosive and said very hurtful and damaging
Things. They were like an overreaction to the situation.
I need help dealing with her. She shows paranoid behaviors
and gives me angry and resentful stares and vibes. I feel hurt
since we used to talk more but now she is suspicious of me.
Any help is appreciated.

Hi Cindy123,

I'd like to welcome you to bpdfamily. I completely understand how hurtful, frustrating and confusing BPD behaviors are. I can give you some suggestions that depends on if you live together or apart? How does she treat your other family members? Is she diagnosed?

Hi,
Thanks for responding.  I don't live with my sister, but my mother lives with her, along with my sisters daughter. My mother supports them both financially. My sister has fought with everyone in my family except for the oldest brother who lives in a different state. He maintains a superficial relationship with her.  She lives with my mother who she doesn't like and gives my mother dirty looks and is hot and cold with her. It creates a toxic environment for my mother, but my mother deals with it.  My sister has been going to therapy regularly. I don't know if she is diagnosed.  A family member who is a psychologist has diagnosed her as BPD just by interacting with her.  I have had the closest relationship with her than all my siblings, but not she has cut me off emotionally.  When I look at her face sometimes, I see anger and distrust. She feels that I am not supported of her, due to various things she has taken way out of proportion.  I am the only sibling that interacts with her regularly and was the one closest to her.Any advice is appreciated.

Hi Cindy123,

I'm sorry to hear that. Can you tell us what she blew out of proportion? That way we can better understand and help you.
