Title: Recent BPD diagnosis with Boyfriend - First time poster Post by: aconstantpoet on March 30, 2017, 04:04:19 AM Hello all,
First-time poster, so please do excuse me if I overstep any marks. My boyfriend has recently been diagnosed with BPD. We've been together about 6 months, and it's fair to say we've shared a lot of ups and downs. I'm hoping things will now start to improve, especially as my other half moves into therapy but I'm looking for just general advice on how to cope with what will probably be the storm before the calm. I am a very calm person and understanding and I've done a lot to forgive and forget, but I want to be sure I'm not just rolling over and feel confident enough to say when certain behaviours are not acceptable, whilst still supporting. Again, first-time post so please do let me know if I've over stepped anywhere. Looking forward to replies and best wishes to you all. *welcome* I'd like to welcome you to bpdfamily. That's good news that you're bf is going to be going to therapy, when you say calm before the storm, is there something in particular that worries you? My suggestion would be to read as much as you can about the disorder, is there something specific that you wanted to know about your bf over stepping boundaries? Can you describe the ups and downs? I'm looking forward to hearing more of your story. |
