Title: What purpose does it serve to order transcripts from a hearing?
Post by: soundofmusicgirl on April 07, 2017, 03:09:14 AM
Our L just informed us that BPDxw ordered excerpts from our last custody and child support hearing a few years go. We are currently going back to court to modify child support and BPDxw has recently received the interrogatories and discovery questions from our L about her financials from the last including the years before the last hearing.

My guess is she is trying to make sure that she does not tell a different story (purge herself) about her financials now, then what she stated under oath a few years ago?

If it's a new attorney it could just be the attorney looking at what happened before.

That would be my guess, based on a new attorney coming in to the picture.

It's not a bad idea

I was in a 4 hour deposition (both ex and I were deposed) and we both received transcripts as part of the service.

It was eye opening to read it, even coming so soon after the deposition.

Are you planning to order transcripts, too?

My county saved testimony and other "on the record" statements as audio files which I could request at no cost.  If all you need to do is listen to it, then that option might work for you.

Once or twice I requested a transcript which I had to pay for but the transcriber also filed a copy with the court.  I would presume that if your ex requested a transcript then she'll have to pay for it.  Just wait for it to get posted to your case and then get an inexpensive copy.  Well, if that's how your county works.

It's routine.
