Title: Surviving wisdom tooth surgery Post by: Alayne on May 31, 2017, 07:35:07 PM Rant for sanity. Day zero and we're all still alive. Health is his worst trigger. It's only been a few months since our relationship bottom, which happened while he had the flu, for instance.
It helps that it's just at the start, and that he's largely sleeping and away. He's sniped a few times (favorite: he started to get upset that he had to ask a question when he didn't understand something I said and then accused me of being too stressed out - I don't usually get to catch him reflecting his emotions onto me). I have a feeling Day 2 is going to be the worst for him (and me). Trying to not actually stress about it and only partially succeeding. Won't lie that I can't wait for him to recover. I so get your fear... . Title: Re: Surviving wisdom tooth surgery Post by: Tattered Heart on June 01, 2017, 08:02:35 AM Pain triggers almost all people. Sorry that you are going through this, but thankfully the pain won't last long. When he starts to get angry, show him that you are concerned and try to redirect him back to what is really bothering him--physical pain.
Title: Re: Surviving wisdom tooth surgery Post by: isilme on June 01, 2017, 09:02:36 AM It's like a bear in a trap you are trying to help. They won't care/understand that you are there to help. I agree that being conscientious about the pain and offering to help is all you can do, validate that pain sucks, dental surgery sucks, and you're there to make as much mashed potatoes as he can eat.
Title: Re: Surviving wisdom tooth surgery Post by: Alayne on June 01, 2017, 02:04:50 PM BOOM. He forgot - or rather I "forgot to remind him" - that his home office is being moved today. Got lots of yelling and f-bombs in front of the baby and mover. Awesome. He asked for 15 minutes to do what he needs and then I get to enforce that we won't be postponing because I know that won't be enough.
Kicker: he works on a laptop. Kicker #2: he didn't take a sick day despite everyone's advice, which is why he is working at all. Aaaaand that's about all for my 15 minutes. Off to coax the bear out of his den. |
