Title: Stay at home mom
Post by: Lakebreeze on June 04, 2017, 06:37:40 PM
I am currently a stay at home mom to our 4 kids ages 5,4,4 and 1. I have always wanted to be a stay-at-home mom, ie I mentioned it on our first date. My un-diagnosed BPD husband supports us working three 12 hour shifts a week. I can't count the number of times he has contemplated going back to school, doing something different, so very discontent overall. Recently he has decided that the best thing for our family would be for him to cut back his hours to 2 shifts a week and he will watch the kids while I work 2 shifts a week. I mentioned that I would like to stay with the kids for a bit longer and he raged for almost an hour. He feels really unhappy with life, and he feels that more time with the kids will make him happy.
We are in marriage counseling. I had an individual session with the therapist and he encouraged me to request to stay with the kids since it is really what I want and feel is best for the kids considering my husband's rages. Has anyone else been in a similar situation? Should I just agree to keep the peace? Should I worry about him caring for the kids 2two 12 hour shifts a week? I'm Just feeling really confused  and feeling a little broken down from all the name calling. Thanks( Admin: please move if this is inappropriate here, I'm not sure - thank you)

I homeschooled my kids, they are grown now. Protect your kids. They will thank you for it later. Mine have. I think you should stick to your gut on these types of things. Maybe there is another solution that might help him. :)

Thanks for the insight... funny I was planning on home schooling our kids too. I was homeschooled as well.
