Title: Resources in Ontario, Canada
Post by: WytchBaby on June 06, 2017, 11:27:00 AM
Hi everyone,

I've been away from the boards for a while, but things with my BPD wife have gotten really rough again. I've checked around and I didn't notice anything against me posting this, so if it's not allowed I apologize and will be happy to remove the thread.

I'm wondering if anyone is in Ontario, Canada - specifically the Niagara through Toronto region (ie Southern Ontario areas) that may have some recommendations for doctors, therapists, programs, resources etc. we have been referred to two near by hospitals. One we have used in the past and are hoping to get into again though it's not everything she needs; the other apparently has an extremely long wait list for their mental health programs.

My Wife admits to needing help, such as DBT but we cannot find anywhere near us that it's run locally and run properly. Just looking for advice. Feel free to PM me if you don't wish to publish your recommendations openly.

Thanks everyone!

Hi WytchBaby,

*welcome*

You probably already know about CAMH ( Centre for Addiction and Mental Health ) Did you give them a call?

www.camh.ca/en/hospital/health_information/a_z_mental_health_and_addiction_information/borderline_personality_disorder_an_information_guide_for_families/Pages/Borderline-Personality-Disorder.aspx

You can call them from anywhere in Ontario, I also see that they have a self referral for mental health

www.camh.ca/en/hospital/Referrals_to_CAMH/Pages/Referrals-to-CAMH.aspx

Also at the bottom of the referral page there's a link there for community resources in Toronto.

Hi Mutt,

Thanks so much! I did know about CAMH and I believe her doctor referred her, but I'll show her this too for the self referal.

It's been a rough couple of months with other life stuff, so now I'm getting back to all this medical stuff.

Thanks again and have a great day!
