Title: Introducing myself as a BPD wife
Post by: BPDwife22 on June 25, 2017, 10:01:11 AM
Hello, I just found this support group. I have been married to my husband for about 8 years and he was just diagnosed with BPD, after struggling to find the correct diagnosis for the last two years. Looking back, he has shown signs since he was a teenager of BPD, but really seemed to spiral downward the past two years as his impulsiveness led to online gambling and the consequences of that led to worsening mood signs and fits of anger. He so far has been very accepting of the diagnosis, is going to therapy, reading books, and seems to be wanting to get better for himself and to avoid losing me and the kids. My concern is that he will revert back to old habits once he is comfortable, and that I will be the one that suffers. I'm looking for others to talk to, and see if there is any hope of my situation improving. Thank you.

*welcome*

I'm sorry for what brought you here but I'm glad you're with us.  We help and support each other here. We all know how stressful and scary it is to be in a relationship with someone who presents BPD traits.

I'm happy to hear that your husband is working on his condition. I hope that we can help you with your side of things. How can we best support you?

I would suggest that you continue to read the posts, read the articles contained on this web site, and some of the recommended books. Educate yourself as best you can about BPD. The more you know, the easier any decision you make will be.

I believe you will be greatly comforted by the support here and the fact that we really understand what you are going through. We've all been there to varying degrees. Take care of yourself. We will look out for future posts from you.
