Title: Court testimony over... lawyers need to issue findings.. What should be included
Post by: Sluggo on June 28, 2017, 03:38:23 PM
Court testimony is over.  It took a span of 6 months to meet for 2.5 days of testimony.

Lawyers have to give findings to judge.  lawyer said she will let me read them before they are turned in on Friday... .

Any suggestions on what should be emphasized to the judge in these findings.  Not really sure what findings are either.

i am no law expert. But I believe findings are the "cliff notes" of the trial.
In our case the judge wrote them and then used it to make an actual ruling.
We have used the findings document to send excerpts to care takers or my ss's as their BPDxmom accuses my DH of abusing them to all who will listen. In the findings document it actually says that no domestic violence or abuse was found.

Your lawyer needs to be the proactive lawyer to make sure the content is complete.  Her lawyer may conveniently skip, slant or gloss over details you need.  And yes, good that "lawyer said she will let me read them before they are turned in".  It's your life and future hanging in the balance, you need to be the proofreader.  I'm sure there will be things you'll ask about that aren't in there.

You might want to write down everything that happened and what you thought was significant before you read what your \lawyer writes. This way you have something to compare so you don't forget anything.
