Title: Angry and hurt
Post by: Jane B on July 04, 2017, 05:04:23 AM
I am feeling very angry. I finally stood up to my mum who we think has BPD. It did not go well and we are now estranged but I was not expecting my family to abandon me as well. Only my sister is really supporting me. My mum made my dad choose between us and he chose her, although he would disagree. The injustice of it is palpable as I would never have asked any one to make that choice. Now I have to go on with my life without either of my parents.

Hi Jane B

I am sorry you are dealing with such a difficult family situation. You mention 'we' think she has BPD, who else thinks your mother has BPD? Are you talking about your sister who thinks this too or perhaps also other people in your life?

It is sad how much conflict and drama often comes along with having a BPD family-member and how much this can affect all the relationships in a family. What leads you to believe your mother has BPD? What do you consider her most difficult or troubling behaviors?

As difficult as this is, I am glad to see you reaching out here for support as many of our members (including me) know how difficult it can be dealing with a BPD parent and will be able to relate to you.
