Title: Mother in law
Post by: Michelle C on July 16, 2017, 07:31:59 AM
My MIL get's very angry if my husband and kids miss a family function. We were invited to my beother in laws house for the 4th of July two days prior. We had plans already and sometimes we do like to do our own thing with friends. She has been withdrawing from us since then and always has a scowl on her face. It makes me sad that if we don't do something the way she wants it we get ignored. This is my first time posting. Thanks.

Hi and welcome to bpdfamily

Thanks for introducing yourself to our community. Holidays and family functions have been difficult for many of us (including me) when dealing with our BPD family-members.

Could you perhaps tell us a bit more about your mother-in-law's behavior? You mention how she gets angry and always has a scowl on her face. Are there also other behaviors or traits she exhibits that you would classify as concerning or find difficult to deal with?

This site is aimed at family-members and friends of people with BPD. Has your mother-in-law perhaps ever been diagnosed with any kind of mental/emotional/behavioral disorder?

I hope to read more of your story later
