Title: It wasn't meant to be like this Post by: Worriedmum99 on August 14, 2017, 02:41:51 AM Having only joined the site a couple of days ago, already reading others posts and now I feel less alone. I'm not sure I have any of the answers of coping tools yet to become the parent I need to be to support my daughter, but I'm reassured that I am part of a large community of people who feel like I do, completely out of my depth and inadequate. Maybe we are all good enough though, we are all here for a start, which shows we care.
Any advice or guidance will be gratefully received. Title: Re: It wasn't meant to be like this Post by: wendydarling on August 18, 2017, 11:46:54 AM Hi there Worriedmum99
Welcome So true, it wasn't meant to be like this was it , I'm glad you found us and feel less alone. Parents often feel like you do as you'll see on the threads, we arrive feeling completely out of our depth. It takes time to learn and practice the tools and from the lessons, small gentle steps help the journey. I found it helpful to practice one tool at a time and then move on. I often think to myself learning the skills is the greatest gift I can give my 28DD. My 28DD has completed 12months DBT and she uses some of the tools too |iiii What books have you read? My favourite go to is Loving Someone with Borderline Personality Disorder (https://bpdfamily.com/book-reviews/loving-someone-borderline-personality-disorder) it provides solid tools and very detailed explanations of how to use them.
