Title: Desperate for help Post by: LucieA on August 17, 2017, 08:17:42 PM Hi,
I am new here but will try and keep this short. My son was diagnosed with Autism at the age of 5 but over the last few years his behaviours have been completely out of control. He was putting himself and my other 2 children at that much of a risk I had to have mt son placed in a local authority children's house, who have also admitted they can't keep him safe either. The more I research, I feel my son has some form of personality disorder but no one seems interested in what I have to say and just keep telling me it is normal for teenagers to act this way! He has went through 4 high schools, is so obsessed about being in control, manipulating others, lashing out, drug abusing and offending in the community. He has absolutely no emotional connection to the impact his actions have on others and doesn't care about anyone what so ever - and will freely admit it. He often sounds delusional as he genuinely believes things that I know did not happen. I am in the UK and services for mental health are shocking, social work are basically waiting for something serious to happen before placing him in secure accommodation. I have appointed a private Pyschiatrist to carry out an independent evaluation but not sure how long that will take, or cost me! Any advice would be kindly appreciated! I'm sorry what brings you here, what you're dealing with your son and no one is listening to you. I'm also in the UK and my 28DD was assessed at our local mental health centre. You are right to gain a private assessment to get things going asap, I'd also suggesting you ask your GP to refer your son for an assessment at your local mental health centre. We had to put respectful pressure on the NHS to ensure we were being heard. How old is your son? WDx |
