Title: 58 year-old daughter
Post by: Valli on August 24, 2017, 02:51:57 PM
I believe my 58-year-old daughter has BPD.  No matter how loving and understanding I try to be, she rants and raves about how mean, selfish, and self-centered I am.  After numerous hurtful e-mails from her, I looked up BPD and was convinced it fits her to a T.

I asked if she would be willing to talk with me about ways we might improve our relationship but she refused. So I responded: "If we can find a way to improve our communication, I will be happy to attend your Birthday party next week."  She refused, so I did not attend which made her even angrier.  I sent her a birthday card, "With love and blessings," and a note that I have a very special gift for her when things get better. She e-mailed me: "Thank you for the card."  But no mention of the gift or getting together.

I have written out my "5 Personal Limits" but am afraid to send them. I don't know where to start--I'm emotionally exhausted trying to cope.
