Title: BPD (probably) mom
Post by: Fingerpaint on September 11, 2017, 06:58:42 AM
My mom, living near us, has many borderline symptoms. I'm almost 40 and have spent most of my life trying to soothe her. She's hypersensitive, acutely attuned to any perceived injustice against her. She's helpful with covering childcare and is very much in my corner, except when she's not because of some perceived slight. I help her with expenses. We're her only close family. I'm at a little bit of a loss.

Hi Fingerpaint

Welcome! It sounds as if you may have spent a bit of time learning about BPD. What have you read or discovered so far? I am very glad that you've found our site and joined our family. My mom was an uBPD, and what you said would fit my mom as well. The hypersensitivity, easily perceived injustice, very helpful and very much easily offended. I found it difficult to know which mom I had on which day because she changed so frequently.

What do you find yourself struggling with the most if you can put your finger on it? It could be many things or especially a few. There is a great link on the right hand side of our board: "What is Borderline Personality Disorder?"  If you click on it, it opens up with a lot more information. Please take the time to read and join in any discussions on our board. Others appreciate hearing your thoughts, struggles and encouragement. You will also gain a lot of insight and hopefully some comfort too in sharing what can often be a burden with other family members in a safe place.

Do you have any siblings or close friends who are able to support and understand these dynamics you've shared with us?
