Title: How can I stop him from road rage from car window
Post by: nimblebe on October 08, 2017, 11:52:08 AM
While I'm driving the car, my 20-yr-old son will reach over and honk the horn, yell very loud obscenities out the passenger window at other cars/drivers. Also, when we've parked the car somewhere, he'll come very close to inciting violence from other males in cars by screaming at them and giving them the finger. It's dangerous because he's inciting violence, as well as extremely unpleasant in any case. Nicely admonishing and/or discussions with him hasn't worked.

Any advice? Any luck with a similar situation?

Thanks so much.

My ex would do things like that too. I am sorry you are experiencing this. I had to set a hard boundary when we were not in the heat of the moment. I told him I would get out of the car and walk if he was driving unsafely or raging. He did, I waited until a red light and got out. I walked home and he learned to control himself. I don't know what your boundary would be but pulling over and refusing to move until he apologizes controls himself might be a place to start. Let us know what you come up with and how it goes.

Hi nimblebe

The behavior you describe sounds quite unpleasant indeed. Do you believe your son has BPD?

When you first got here, you posted about taking in a 20 year old homeless man. Are you talking about the same person here?
