Title: Where is the best place to get support?
Post by: hazedandconfused on November 04, 2017, 09:54:38 PM
Is there a good website to find local BPD family support groups - for helping people that have BPD people in their lives?  Kind of like Al-Anon of BPD?

I tried Meetup and found nothing in my area.  Psychology Today just had groups that were helping people with BPD.

This is the best group I have found.  Different from live in person groups but the value of experience here has been wonderful.

Al-Anon is a group I think that has a lot of value.  I have used my BPD xwife as my qualifier.

We do not have any kind of list of support groups. YOu might try contacting either local NAMI (if you are in the US) or local mental health clinics to see if they have any kind of groups. I know I've seen some people on here have found such groups. Others have gone to groups for family members of those with a variety of mental illnesses. You may even be able to find a CODA group (CoDependents Anonymous)

We've had members utilize CODA and/or Al-Anon to help cope. But, as Sluggo said, the bpdfamily is one of the best places to find support because we've all been there in one form or another and have a different understanding of what it is like to live in a relationship with a pwBPD.
