Title: significant other's 26 year old daughter has BPD Post by: detachment on November 07, 2017, 11:52:09 AM My partners daughter's raging over the phone and her general craziness still upsets me, although I have dealt with it for 13 years. It makes me hate my partner.

I just wanted you to know that I’ve often felt really resentful of both my husband and DS. If only everybody could find a way to be better with one another, I found I had to lead the way.

Just wondering. In your opinion, how well does your partner handle the situations with her daughter. There are some links to communication and strategy tools in the margin to the right. You might want to check them out, or brush up on them. Is your partner receptive to discussions about her daughter, and perhaps trying some new strategies and communication tools? My significant other has a daughter who is likely BPD (diagnosed bipolar) and the step parent role can make things pretty tricky. Does your partner know how you feel about him? How have you dealt with the daughter's behaviors the last 13 years? |
