Title: Newbie. Need to know I'm not alone
Post by: Sadz on December 02, 2017, 08:21:32 PM
I'm the mom of two children with BPD. The first one we tried to get help and were not successful.  We know more now and are getting help for the other child.  That being said I have so much to learn and am so overwhelmed at times. It's so wearing to take her abuse day in and day out. I'm hoping to learn what others do so as not to lose hope.

Hi Sadz and welcome to the forum, though I am so sorry for what brings you here.  It is exhausting to have to deal with a child with BPD and the fact that you have two must be that much more overwhelming.  Rest assured, you have come to the right place to find empathy, understanding and compassion!

I joined this forum last April when I was in a very dark place with my BPD dd, now 21.  I was feeling worn out and hopeless.  Truthfully, for me, just finding the forum and realizing that I was not alone, that there were others out there trudging along a path with uncanny similarities, was such a relief.  I was able to move on from the guilt and sorrow and start to move towards rebuilding a relationship with my daughter while helping her at the same time.  For me, radical acceptance was my most important first step.  Accepting the diagnosis and accepting that maybe things were not going to turn out the way we wanted and dreamed, but that could be okay too.

The tools on the right hand side of this page are a great place to start, Sadz.  And please, continue to post and read the experiences of others.  It really does help.  How old are your children with BPD?

Most important, Sadz, please know that you are not alone!     MomMae

Sadz,

I joined last month.  I asked the same question, and was glad to find out I wasn't alone.

These people rock.
